E46 M3 Styling. Many consider the E46 M3 and the E39 M5 to be the pinnacle of styling in BMW’s recent history. The E46 didn’t have the brash styling that today’s M cars have, and is rather more simplistic and refined. But we like that. In our opinion here at The Car Investor, the E46 is simply one of the best looking 3 Series ever built.

You MUST lock down the vanos and the subframe mounts when you buy the car. Failure to do so can result in a bill larger than the price of the car, and locking them down is cheap.

Its a hate/love relationship. However, any car with over 100k is bound to have issues. The E46 chassis, especially the Sport Packages, are very handsome cars. The handling is fantastic, even compared to my S2000, and the interior is very clean and has aged well. If you're good at working on your own vehicle, go for it.

May 6, 2021 · Most BMW enthusiasts will readily tell you that the E46 version is the pinnacle of the M3, and the CSL is the ultimate version of the E46. In fact, it might just be the best M-badged car ever made. Just like the 3.0 CSL, the "L" means Light, and light it is, with BMW claiming a 10% weight saving over the regular M3.

Dec 3, 2013 · If you really want a BMW then save your cash and do it right. I don't understand why people buy these cars with 200k miles on them. Especially since a nicer e46 with under 100k miles can be bought for so cheap. A good rule of thumb to go by is that in order to drive a decent, semi reliable E46 you need to be comfortable investing $10000 total.
The e46's have these possible options: power and memory seats, Harmon & Kardon sound (well worth it), and the winter package which brings heated seats and a trunk access from the back seats. Be patient and check the car thoroughly. Make sure all of the windows are BMW branded and that VINs match.
E34's have decent build quality but are getting old. the E46 plastic coolings systems fall apart and need replacing every two years. The interior build quality is really bad, plastic crack and collaspe and the leather seats wear easily. That being said the coupes are very pretty and wpuld buy one, aware of the faults.
